In a world where the reuse and saving of resources has become paramount, Engadin Tailwinds wanted to develop “Ecofit”: a unique injection moulding machine retrofit system based on hydraulic servo drive, which allows energy savings of more than 30 per cent compared to traditional systems.

The EcoFit system makes it possible to improve the efficiency of presses and reduce their power consumption by replacing the main parts of the moulding system with:

Ecofit by Engadin Tailwinds provides precise regulation of pump power and torque according to the actual needs of the work cycle, while maintaining the original heating system.
Ecofit by Engadin Tailwinds was tested by measuring electrical parameters on two identical 80 ton presses: one with the original operating system and the other with the new system.
The mould fitted, the material used (FORFLEX T 570°), the climatic conditions and the heating time remained identical.
A Chauvin Arnoux Qualistar C.A. 8336 network analyser configured to take measurements at 1-second intervals for a total of 90 minutes was used for the measurements.
The measured data show a clear energy improvement of the press with a reduction in energy demand of more than 30%.
The energy efficiency is substantial not only for Active Energy but also for Reactive Energy.
